Here’s mе testing mу bug out bag іn thе ravine behind mу house. Mу pack hаѕ ѕοmе survival essentials including a poncho, knives, folding saw, dehydrated food, canteen аnd cup, mosquito jacket, headlamp, first aid kit, hygiene kit аnd more. Fοr thіѕ camp-out, I’m using thе poncho аѕ a sleeping bag bу snapping thе sides together. I added аbουt 6″ οf natural insulation under thе poncho, whісh mаdе sleeping οn thе ground very comfortable. I wаѕ harassed bу mosquitoes ALL night, аnd didn’t sleep well. Thе lіttlе flying devils actually bit through thе bug jacket I wаѕ wearing. Thе poncho kept mе dry frοm thе dew аnd rain thаt mаdе іt through thе tree canopy. A bug bar, aka mosquito net, wіll bе going іntο mу bug out bag аѕ soon аѕ I gеt home tonight. I саn’t imagine whаt mу night wουld hаνе bееn lіkе without thе bug jacket. Overall thе gear worked well bу keeping mе dry аnd mostly protected frοm insects. I’ll bе adding a bug bar tο mу kit fοr warm months. Thanks fοr watching, please leave a comment аnd rating.

In Florida we have a lot of sand we have for yrs dug three to four feet deep n to
fire would heat the sand around it depending hot big the fire was a bug (“skeeter “) netting wrap around a hommock is what I have used for 30yrs
how about stealth tent camping?
@fjared36 That’s not just a stealth fire. . . . That’s a signal fire to say HEY! i’m over here on your property without your permission motherfucka LOL!
Great to do these things to see just what you need NOW Invest in multilayers of netting. Do this carry a hammock have a skeeter netting that will box in the hammock get a hammock that has additional skeeter neeting. It helps to carry deet but that stuff sucks there are natural herbs you can find in the bush that will keep skeeters at bay. YT wilderness outfitters or pathfinders school Cantenbury had that in one of his videos where he used a plant to ward off skeeters.
Lol. . Hey man, had to comment on this vid. I love the title of “stealth camping” and you’ve got a picture of a big ass fire as the thumbnail. Not very stealth, but still funny. Lol. Nice vid.
Sound like you have bug in pack. LOL !! try a hammock with a raised bug net and ad extra padding underneath or they will get you there. Hammocks are really light too.
nice. i like that you kept it small and simple. lot of guys i know want to pack out everything they own.
stealth camping with a fire??
Hope I’m not stating the obvious here, but how about DEET? I’ve just spent a week in French forests and the only place I got bitten by the clouds of the bastards was on an area of my ankles where I hadn’t applied DEET, and that was with wearing short pants. The night was fine as my DD hammock has a very effective mesh and unless your skin is in contact with it, you won’t get touched. Lights do nothing. Mozzies are attrracted by CO2 and some scents. So gimmie a D E E T! Whassat spell! DEET!
good video bud keep it up
I know what you mean about the skeeters,my last camping trip they nearly packed me off,you can buy a small black light that runs by batteries and if you burn it about 30′ away from where youre sleeping it should draw a great many of them away from you,the light I have will last about six hous on fresh batteries. This is only theory,I took a large black light out one night and they swarmed me,so I bought the small light and figured I will give it a try my next camping trip, good luck.
@envirosponsible ok i made a video on my cold steel srk on my camera how do i uplaod it now?
@TheTacticalsurvivor Putting videos up is pretty easy really. If you have a video camera then just start with something simple like showing us your gear. Don’t over plan, just start talking. You’ll get better as you go. If you have more detailed questions, PM me and we’ll get you rockin’. Chad
@envirosponsible nice and just wondering you’ve put alot of vids on youtube how exactly can i do that?
@TheTacticalsurvivor I’ll be doing an update on my bob soon. I still need to add a few components, like the Sawyer water filter.
what is in your B. O. B i know you’ve made vids on it but im sure its changed quite a bit since the new toys=]
@alaskaFranke All good points. Thanks for helping me get better.
If you are bugging out–then OTHER PEOPLE will be doing the same thing. Get rid of the fire, learn to use natural camoflauge, and start getting used to sleeping in adverse weather conditions before SHTF. . . Cintronella oil helps with the bugs, and being in the bottom of a ravine isn’t the best choice for a spot for the night.
lonewolfresistance com good info on bugging out on the website
i have an ex west German army, sleeping bag,and it is the most uncomfortable ,thing i have ever slept in ,but then again there was a storm coming of the coast ,which flattened my tent ,which might have contributed, good luck:)
head net would be good
@ScorpionRegent That’s a stellar idea. Thanks for sharing.
If you aren’t in really severe stealth mode throw a little incense into the embers of your fire. The smoke will help keep the insects away.
@scubaman44406 Yeah, that’s a whole new dynamic.
@ArtisanTony I think you may be right. I’ll have to explore that. I have a Hennessy hammock that packs up smaller than a football that I may have to find room for in the bag.
@envirosponsible Could you strap a small tent onto the outside of your pack?
