@rainmechanic Well since this video I have been converted to a hanger other than car camping with wife and daughter but since I got the wider mat been staying put thanks for watching and commenting
I think the “Goop” that other guy is talking about is “SHOE GOO”. . . you can get in in wallmart in the shoe department where they sell the shoe laces, polish, ect. . . .
Good stuff. however im not too sure your going to be able to peal it off so easily. .
Thanks for the tip on the goop
I use All Purpose Goop. It is a silicone that goes on anything but if you decide you want to remove it later on you can just very easily pull it off. i have it on my mats. I got the goop from Wall Mart.
I’m hoping to get the Big Agnes by next winter.
I have a start of what your list is Need a lighter pack for sure thanks for commenting
BA is lighter per real world rating then WM.
1 – MSR tents, especially their HP, it can do4 season.
2 – GoLite backpacks
3 – Snowpeak stoves and pots
4 – Replace all alkaline batteries with lithium batteries.
5 – Knorr and Betty Crocker makes just add water meals/cakes.
6 – Use Sea to Summit sil nylon bags rather then compression sacks.
7 – silcone coated rip stop tarp.
8 – fleece and nylon clothing. cotton is heavy.
9 – no stakes, use sticks.
My pack is now about one third the weight!!!!
I am trying to go light weight but not freeze my but either. I am not a minimalist for over nights. Thanks for commenting
As for sleeping bags. I have five bags.
I have two Western Mountaineering down bags. In todays standards they aren’t as good as Big Agnes or Mountain Hardwear. Both BA and MH have better designs and better construction. Both BA and MH perform better then their ratings. Western Mountaineering is over rated. So if you plan on doing 20 degrees, get a zero degree bag WM bag. This is due to WM’s old technology of construction and simply bad design.
On Alpine style backpacking I only take my MH bag.
You seem like a fellow gear nut. =)
My experience. . .
-To prevent slipping off the mattress, place lines of clear silicone paste on the pad. Any hardware store has small tubes of Silicone II paste. The best combination for those of us who are no longer teenagers and a few extra pounds heavier is to have a combination of a closed cell pad over a thin inflatable pad. Avoid the NEO Air in the winter, its way too risky considering its fragility.
keep them coming mate
welcome thks for posting
nice one thanks for that
Yeah, I don’t have to worry about that so much
) The mummy bag does take a couple sleeps to get adjusted for sure
) I felt a little confined the first night, especially being in a hammock. . . hehe!
I forgot Thanks for commenting I appreciate all the feed back positive and negative
Thanks buddy I hope your feeling better , Ya I am happy with the camera and the better videos for you guys. Thanks for commenting
I will be watching I don’t get it wet , I went with Mont bell for the super stretch ability I hate mummy bags there warm but I feel like a tuna in a can.
I will work on better stuff kind of hard to get things reviewed in 10 min or less .
i love my down, im packin the marmot pounder plus at the moment. good review jim. that new camera is working great
Great review buddy
) I found That For myself I like down the best! Our Mountain Hard wear-15c bags are only 3lb. 6 oz. Try to find anything else that warm and that light. . . ain’t gonna happen. . . hehe! Two thumbs up for down
) *****5/5*****
great tips man! thanks for the video!
I know what you mean I still have the army extreme cold weather bag well my cousins has been borrowing it for 10 years lol the stuff is so heavy though for car camping or short trek or pulling a sled military gear is great
I havent bought a civilian bag since I was a boy scout cause the army always privdied me with some pretty good stuff – but now that Im retarded, I mean retired I LOVE the fact that the big agnes comes with a space to put my sleeping pad into – considering how much I roll around, that’s an awesome idea
