“No Hurries, No Worries” by Nutnfancy (‘Summer Snow’ Actual Pt 3)

It’s OK tο dο nothing once уουr up thеrе! Actually уου саn bе quite busy providing thе essentials οf life іn thе wild раrtѕ: water needs tο bе filtered, food need prepping (sometimes catching tοο!), аnd shelters need erecting аnd maintenance. In bаd weather іt’s even more time consuming. Bυt here іn Summer Snow Pаrt 3 I mаdе sure wе didn’t gеt ѕο busy thаt wе didn’t hаνе tο time tο јυѕt relish ουr location аnd lеt іt soak іn. Wе dο јυѕt thаt! Allie thе Mountain Dog (ουr highly trained female black lab) аnd LastSuspect, mу son, аrе grеаt wilderness companions аѕ wе experience thе high life аt a high mountain lake. Wе saw nο one еlѕе up thеrе due tο thе deep snow banks covering thе trails fοr miles. Wе toughed thеm out аnd achieved remarkable аnd treasured isolation. Wе ѕhοw ѕοmе water filtering wіth thе Katadyn Hiker, thе ѕtаrt οf ουr fire mаkіng exercise fοr mу son, talk аbουt a few blades, watch Allie’s antics, аnd еnјοу thе scenery. Thіѕ wаѕ Day Two οf ουr Summer Snow adventure. Thanks fοr coming along. ////////////// Music: Kevin MacLeod, “Black Rainbow” bу Pitx (feat. ERH, acclivity)

Just found out an annoying fact about the Katadyn Hiker from their customer service. The carbon filter lasts only 6 months after its first contact with water and it is only replaceable together with the main filter. :-(

Nutnfancy you are absolutely right about bringing some flip flops for the campsite. I have been backpacking all my life and my father taught me that when I was very young. To this day many of my buddies forget them(or never packed them at all) and it makes a WORLD of difference, and allows wet boots and feet time to dry.
    Loved this series of vids!!!
And to answer the questions about all the panning shots, I don’t mind. I acually LIKE them, it is so beautiful!

In response to the annotation: “LMK if these scenery shots are boring” . . . . . I love the scenery scans! One vote here to leave them in the vids. Great job Nutn, love all you do!

I like the extra “quiet” footage. Gotta keep it Nutn!

@R4g1ngM0nkey I have a note right here to bring up “neoprene socks” when I talk to Nutn. Who know? It might be just the sort of thing he would love to try out. Viewers of TNP know a thing or two, and we love to hear their ideas!

  13. R4g1ngM0nkey says:

@Verilioness Well thanks for that one. I was just asking about them because I remember on one episode of Mantracker(not the best example I know) thye had two olympians who used the neoprene socks instead of shoes to prevent the water from seeping in due to the cold and damp weather.

Also, it helped them disguise their tracks as there was no distinct shoe print or foot print unless it was muddy.

  14. Verilioness says:

@R4g1ngM0nkey I hope you don’t ever feel like an armchair elitist because you have a difference of opinion. . or a viewpoint or idea to share. Its not about criticisms and differing views, its more about attitude and respect. An armchair elitist would have said something like, “hey fag! did you ever thing about neoprene socks? or are you too much of an idiot!?” Nutn gets GREAT ideas from viewers, and they are appreciated.

  15. R4g1ngM0nkey says:

Ever thought about neoprene socks instead of sandals? I hate saying this because I dont wanna feel like an arm chair elitist or something but it makes sense to use them over sandals(at least to me, you have much more experience) because they provide full foot coverage and even leg coverage with the longer ones.

Also, you can get foot coverings with rubberized bottoms for even better foot protection and they are great for a waterproof covering if needed so.

But thats just my 2 cents.

For drying out boots, I usually bring a load of sachets of silica gel/powder (which are shipped with pretty much everything you buy) in a pouch on my pack. Easy to get hold of and it absorbs loads of moisture. That said, it won’t be anywhere near as good as a fire for drying absolutely soaked boots, but for anything else, it gets the job done.

Niceness. I tried out my MSR ground hog stakes this week and the rocked. I also showed my dad batoning. I ended up giving him my ka-bar and the trox tablets so he has them. Great stuff we had a fire going in a couple mins. – schmoo -
