my favorite song!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks for sharing
underrrrrated! ELV1S
This is version is a little heavy on the syrup for my taste. I prefer the simple ole banjo-picked original by the author–John Hartford.
No offense to you legions of Elvis fans out there.
THE KING
NONE BETTER , long live Elvis
YES ! You´re absolutely right !
i love this song he sounds great
man, i love this song!
MY FAVORITE SONG !!!
jackiej61too – Elvis is clearly all man. He will never be a woman. (sad squint) He’s just so beautiful emotionally. What else can I say. Really.
@alfagtvjan It is a wonderful version, however, Dean Martin’s version does it for me, something about how he did it was simply unmatched for me.
The lyrics to this are 20th Century American poetry of the finest standard. It’s a cinematic road trip across America and through the mind of the singer. For me, no one has ever matched Elvis’ version. He imbues it with a mystical, yearning and wistful quality which is perfect for the song. His greatest gift was his ability to take a song and instinctively know how to inhabit it and make it his. When lyrics of this quality are matched with his genius, it’s as good as American culture ever gets.
Magical moment in the history at 0:17
jackiej61too – Beautiful lyrics and Elvis really does imbue an original country lovin’ sound.
He’s always, true, authentic, credible, incredible, a born natural lover of his songs and
singing, probably spending every day time with them. He’s just real, credible and authentic, mentioning guitar, acoustic, electric, and some piano. It’s a great summer song; diving off of a park pool diving board is hazard that I want to take – because it’s gentle on my mind. Elvis, forever is too. Love, peace.
everything by Elvis is wonderfull
