For Easter? A candle, of course. It has been a symbol of Easter for centuries representing Christ, the light of the world. Eggs are also OK as they symbolise the ending of the Lenten fast (traditionally Christians would fast from meat and eggs in the 6 weeks before Easter). Anything related to fire (be careful, though), Holy Fire being another ancient Christian Easter tradition ( http://www. holyfire. org/eng/index. htm ).

Ostara? Make up whatever you like. There are no old traditions as Ostara is a modern neo-pagan invention (1882, Jakob Grimm). No recorded history before then.

Maybe get them each a book that they want. I have done this with my boys, and it helps motivate those that are not big readers to read a bit more. Esp with a cool bookmark for the book as well. One year I even got carried away and got them all Harry Potter stuff, so some got coloring books, some the real books, and then each got a towler, or shirt, or boxers, or such, and they all loved it. I often do the same at Xmas is to get them each a related gift.

Hope this helps. And Enjoy. . . .
