In early 2009 a preacher came tο υѕ аnd аѕkеd υѕ іf wе сουld hеlр thіѕ family οf 5 thаt wаѕ living іn a tent, thουght аbουt іt аnd dесіdеd wе сουld, June 2009 mу husband wаѕ іn tеrrіblе accident аnd wе hаνе bееn struggling еνеr sense. Wе tοld thе family thеу сουld live іn ουr vacant rental home TEMPORARILY till thеу gοt οn thеіr feet. Thеу offered tο ѕtаrt paying rent аnd dіd fοr short period bесаυѕе thеу ѕаіd thеу wanted tο stay, аnd hаd gotten thеіr kids іn school around thе corner.
Now thеу hаνе nοt paid аnd аrе refusing tο leave аnd аftеr аll thаt wе hаνе done fοr thеm (clothing, school supplies, food, shelter) thе man οf thе family actually ѕаіd hе wουld sue υѕ!! Hе hаѕ a 19 yr οld son thаt lays around аll day аnd dοеѕ nothing!! Hіѕ wife doesn’t even work!! Thеrе аrе jobs available іn ουr town аnd thеу аrе simply nοt trying, wе аrе іn desperate need οf ѕοmе advice!! Thеу haven’t even applied fοr food stamps!! Whеn I аѕkеd fοr money thе last time, thе husband ѕаіd, “Mу youngest gοt one present fοr christmas thаt cost $19, whаt dіd уουr kids gеt?”
Wе аrе worried fοr thе younger kids, іtѕ сοld, bυt wе want thеm out!! PLEASE HELP!!

Call the cops and get them out, I hope you learned a valuable lesson: don’t help those who can’t help themselves, and don’t you ever listen to a preacher again.
You need to start eviction proceedings on them.
Did you ever agree on what amount of rent needed to be paid to you? If so, and they have not paid, slap them with a 3 day pay or quit notice. If they don’t pay, you need to go to the courthouse and file eviction papers. You will get a court date, the judge will rule in your favor and give you a date that they have to be out. When that date comes (after you notify them of unlawful detainer) you can bring the local sheriff to the place and have them forcibly removed.
See what being nice does? Even good religious folk will stab you in the back all the while saying, “God Bless You”. LOL
first thing I wanna say is about that statement he said about getting something only 19$ for his son: what is wrong with the world??? when did it become evil to have a better life than someone else? it’s obviously his fault for 1: not staying in school or working hard enough for a well paying job or 2: why the hell would you have 5 fucking kids if you dont have the money to support them? personally I’d tell these people to get the hell out of my house before I fuckin throw them out. . . .
but that obviously won’t work. . . I say you should talk to that preacher and ask him to talk to the family. call experts on the subject. heck, call the police and see if it’s legal to get rid of them.
i wouold talk 2 them 1 more time saying we hav run out of money scince the accident and cant afford for u to live here without paying rent. if they dont leave go talk 2 a sherif. or dont do anything for them for a while. dont put anyfood in ur house or if u do lock it up and go out 2 eat with ur hubby and hide ur londery detergent from them and make them get their own. or how bout u sue them. they hav absoluteley nothing to sue u for. u brought them into ur home took care of them and they are doing nothing in return for u
Have the police evict them. You won’t be sued, and the police will see to it that any minor children are properly cared for. You owe this bunch NOTHING!
I’m an atheist, but despite this man being a preacher, I would still have done the same as you. I think this shows that you’re a very generous person, and should not feel ashamed of not being willing to go broke for a leech. If he’s threatening to sue (a threat that bears no authority, simply tell him that you will call the police if he doesn’t pay or leave in the next week (or whatever). It’s not harsh, you’ve already done more than you need to. I understand that for the religious, these “holy men” may seem like authorities, but quiz this man on the king james bible, and he may not know very much. You don’t owe him anything for being a preacher, and judging by the morals he’s displaying, i’d say he’s not much of a preacher anyway (not that morals and preachers are kin). Good luck.
Do you use your rental home? I understand what you’re going through. If it were me I’d probably scream my head off at them and kick them out by force. BUT we all know that it’s not the correct thing to do. I say you should let them continue living there, but get legal help or perhaps the police (?) in to ensure they pay their rent. I’m not sure about laws and things like that, but if no written agreement or anything saying that you’re willing to let them stay there for FREE, wouldn’t it be like they’re trespassing property now that you’ve revoked your welcome? Also, maybe you could take out a little time and find some jobs that could work for them? That way they could get on their lazy feet faster and pay you your rent.

You have a rental lease in your name? They can’t sue you. They are trespassing.
You sound like people of tremendously good hearts, but your going to have a to find a darker place for this backlash to your hospitality. They are taking advantage of your kindness. Call the cops and have them removed. Get a restraining order against them. They are using tactics of GUILT against you.
You did something in the first place your Preacher should have done himself. I would be upset with these homeless and the Preacher. He had no right to ask you to do this when you had no means to support them financially.
Fact is, They don’t have their names in the lease. You are the one it is leased to. They have Absolutely NO RIGHTS there. Therefore they have been warned to get out, they refused. So they have broken the law by forcibly and verbally threatened you from your own residence. You are the one who is able to sue. And no matter you religious background. Take a stand and do what is right. You tried your best to show kindness and it was treaded upon. Now do what is right and take your life back by taking a stand against this Manipulating family who needs to learn to find work and stay in a homeless shelter until they have enough to move. This is America. There are jobs even if they don’t pay well. It’s something!

You’ve been taken for a ride since Day ONE. You need to file an eviction action to have them removed. You will need to issue a few notices to them before initiating the eviction action. If you are not familiar with the rental statutes in your specific state, get legal help, and start that eviction IMMEDIATELY. And NEXT time, don’t be so gullible.
