Sο, fοr thе еnd οf thе year trip wе wеrе supposed tο gеt a sleeping bag tο stay over night. Wе hаνе bunks аnd stuff, bυt nο mattresses therefore wе аrе going tο need sleeping bags, аnd οf coarse, I don’t hаνе one (іt’s nοt јυѕt οnlу mе, bυt a couple οthеr kids). Sο, mу mom ѕhοwеd mе a thing wіth 2 blankets аnd yadda yadda yadda аnd іt wіll work, bυt wе аrе supposed tο pack аѕ lightly аѕ possible. Sο, Anу іdеаѕ…
Oh, аnd wе aren’t buying a sleeping bag fοr mе tο υѕе once…

Here’s the thing, cowboys used to use two blankets, one for under and one for on top. That’s the way to go – we are talking ounces of weight not pounds. If you have some lighter weight blankets, or a comforter or quilt would work. Other option – see if any neighbors have a sleeping bag you can borrow.
Any one in the neighborhood camp? Offer to wash his car to borrow one. If you were one of the neighborhood kids I would lone you a older one. Hit a few garage sales you might find one cheap. This time of year. No mattress? A foam pad. two sticks, 1 sheet, Form a V tuck edges under pad, fold in end edges, Mosquito net. If it is warm this would be best.
You can make a sleeping bag by using a huge long blanket thts light or thick your choose and you can wrap up in that or ask a friend if they have an extra sleeping bag for your use.
what your Mom showed you was a bed roll and so as far as I’m concerned you can just suffer because your moms always right. . . . . SHE’S YOUR MOM. . . !!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: why did people give Grace a thumbs up? she has no more idea than a jack rabbit what the hell she is talking about
wool blankets dont weigh ounces. . THEY WEIGH POUNDS !
Go to thrift stores and garage sales. Sleeping bags don’t hold their value, so they’re usually cheap. . . It’s like used clothing.
Give it a wash, and it should be good to go.
Go to WalMart. . . . Even a new sleeping bag isn’t that expensive if you don’t get a fancy one. . .
A bed roll works. . . It is heavy, but effective.
Here’s what we did while I was in the Marine Corps.
If you get a military poncho and poncho liner, the line will have strings to tie it to the eyelets in the poncho. You can then fold it over in half and have a very good sleeping bag. This took up less than 1/3 the space of the sleeping bag and was plenty warm and comfortable.
Whether you are using a sleeping bag or the ponho and liner combination, you’ll need to take a foam pad. They usually sell for less than $10. In addition to being more comfortable to sleep on, they insulate you from the ground. When packing, you can roll the ponho & liner in the pad to save space.
