3 season tents are a niche that is quickly growing and there is good reason why this is so. For one, three season tents generally offer the most user friendly designs. Most three season tents are domed, which allows for easier setting up and dismantling. Domed tents also help to repel rain and wind better than the average A-frame design of the older style of tents. Domed tents also allow for more headroom and overall space.

Three season tents are also lightweight, which makes them ideal for hiking. They are almost a nonissue, since many weigh less than five pounds and can fit easily into most hikers’ backpacks. Compare that to the heavier designs of four season tents and you can imagine just how much more ideal it would be to carry a five pound, neatly stored tent that can be set up in minutes compared to a bulky fold-up house.
Most people, at first glance, would look at the light weight of most three season tents, and then look at how easy they are to set up. These people would likely assume that a three person tent does not provide the durability and strength that is expected of a tent. These people would be wrong. Three season tents are far more dependable against adverse weather conditions than most any other kind of tent, and the material from which the tent is made runs almost like a how-to guide on repelling water. Many of these tents are built to last a lifetime, with quite a few offering guarantees relating to such.
When it comes to deciding which 3 season tent to choose, keep in mind that most offer lightweight styles with extremely dumbed-down set up. The prices are all fairly comparable, with some higher end tents offering more extras, but you should be more than happy with any 3 season tent you choose.
